ASTR 204 Home
Since 1924, Steward Observatory has been hosting public evening
lectures in astronomy. The seven lectures for the Fall 2008 semester
will be held on Monday nights at 7:30 pm in room N210
at Steward Observatory -- the same classroom as for ASTR 204 -- unless
otherwise noted at the website link below.
Following the talks, there will be opportunities for viewing the
night sky (weather permitting) with the use of the 21-inch telescope
at the Campus Station of the Observatory operated by undergraduate majors
in astronomy and related sciences. All of the lectures and the use
of the telescope are free of charge and open to the general public.
If you go to one of these lectures, take notes, and have those notes stamped
at the lecture, you can turn in your notes during class for extra
credit. You can also choose to draw the objects that you observe through
the telescope and to write a page describing either the objects
and their astronomical importance or the telescope itself.
